About
My name is Bêne Otto and I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
I am currently working in Private Practice in Johannesburg while completing a PhD at the University of Johannesburg in Disenfranchised Grief.
After completing my MA Counselling Psychology (cum laude), I did my internship at the Counselling and Careers Development Unit (CCDU) at Wits, where I was trained in psychotherapy (children, adults and couples), psychological assessment, group therapy and career counselling.
For the past few years I have worked in private practice, as a Locum Psychologist at Mayo Clinic and Akeso Arcadia Clinic, as well as lectured psychology on a temporary basis at the University of Johannesburg.
I am passionate about working with adults, adolescents and couples, helping them navigate a variety of life challenges such as adjustment issues, depression, anxiety, burnout and trauma. I have a special interest in grief and bereavement, with a particular focus on normalizing the grief experience and helping society become more grief literate. I also have a special interest in working with people who are vegan and dealing with the unique challenges that they face.
